Return to Macon County
1975
Early in his career Drew would change styles, techniques and
painting
medium with the spirit of each movie. His ability to attach to
the
spirit of a film was evident early on, being able to capture that
spirit
with each assignment. While 'The Black Bird' was done in a period
style of Rockwell and in oils to capture the movie's character, this
piece
as a contrast was much more like the personal style he would develop
later
on in his career. He was still using a brush predominantly but
even
then was including colored pencils. No wonder it was difficult
for
people to identify Drew with the variety of his works.
