High Ballin'
1978

This was in the last days of when Drew was still using oils for his illustrated works.  While some paintings call to his mind changes in his artistic progress, like in medium, technique, composition and conception, this painting makes him think nostalgically.  'I remember, looking at this picture, gathering all the reference materials to paint from once I had conceived the idea.  That's my son's dog 'Noah', my old partner as the cop, that's me hanging on the truck as Jerry Reed and me and my wife in the truck.  I went out walking in the neighborhood looking for a car carrier truck which frequented the neighborhood.  I photographed it and cars just parked around about.  The things I do to get a job done.  Simple but hardly artistic.'
