Poster 1979

In the Summer of 1979 the City of Los Angeles determined to have a program where underprivileged kids could ride the bus to the beach for free.  They bought some twenty old buses and hired the design firm of Pacific Eye & Ear to do something with them.  They decided to make the buses look like submarines.  The program was a great success and was a lot of fun for the children.  This is the poster Drew painted to promote awareness of the project, using the wife of the boss and fellow employee and artist Bill Garland as models.
